About us
The Hotel Meublé Gorret, completely renewed in 2008, enjoys a favoured position, it is situated in the town centre and a few steps far from the ski-lift plants of Cretaz.
Our mountain chalet of the Breuil (ancient name of Cervinia) is named after the Abbot Amé Gorret (26.10.1836 - 04.11.1907 ) historian, alpinist and writer, who was the executor, together with the guides Jean-Antoine Carrel, Jean-Baptiste Bich and Jean Augustin Meynet, of the conquest of Mount Cervino, happened in July 17, 1865.
This event marked the beginning of the alpinist, touristic and sport development of the Breuil. He was also a fine and witty writer, it is said that he used the pen as a ice-axe and this is a summary of his thought:
«The mountain fortifies the bodies debilitated by the city life. The mountain offers a lonely rest to the minds exhausted by the confusion of the social life and improves the discouraged citizens through the quiet and peaceful contemplation of the nature, sublime work of God. A traveller, who leaves for the mountain, does it because he looks for the mountain, and I believe that he would remain very upset if he found the city he has just left.
This is the spirit that still today characterizes us. Our family-managed Chalet is glad to offer you a pleasant and restful stay.
